Even though we’ve come to the close of Gossip Girl for the year 2007, don’t be alarmed because we already know for sure that the show will be returning – it’s just a matter of when and for how long. Now let’s dig into this delicious episode…
Well, considering we’ve gone a few episodes now with B. and S. on good terms, I guess I should have expected a quick scrap between the two. I’m glad Serena hasn’t forgotten about Chuck Bass forcing himself on Jenny (everybody else appears to have), because it lends some necessary weight to their latest disagreement. But I was happy to see things quickly move on to what was ultimately an adult-centric episode where we got a much deeper glimpse into all of the parents’ lives than we have before.
Speaking of which, getting Rufus, Alison, and Lily van der Woodsen in the same room was not something I expected to see until several episodes of reconciliatory bliss between Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey. But not on Gossip Girl. These writers won’t dish out a new conflict without dealing with the fallout the very next week. Some might argue that’ll lead to a sophomore season of recycled story lines, but as anyone familiar with the book series knows, there is still a lot of history to cover and even more new characters to introduce…

Weeds [S03E15]
As all of my roommates know, I absolutely love Weeds. I want to BE Mary-Louise Parker. And as ridiculous as parts of this season may have been (Nancy and Sullivan…?!), the brilliant and frantic convergence of nearly every storyline made for a hell of a season finale – not to mention something of a series reboot. Over the past few episodes several unrelated threats were approaching, and it was only a matter of time until one of them finally uprooted the Botwin family. In turn it was incredibly satisfying to see them all brushed away with Nancy’s decision to finally say goodbye to her and Judah’s home.
I’m looking forward to the next evolution of Weeds where the “I’m a pot dealer! There I said it!” premise is finally extinguished. I really can’t imagine Jenji Kohan structuring the next season around Nancy leaving the business, although that did seem to be the implication. Not that there wouldn’t be enough story now that Celia has ratted out Nancy. It’s just that a part of me wishes they follow through with Guillermo’s offer of moving up the narcotics ladder, and next summer we meet a newly dedicated, drug trafficking Nancy Botwin. Then again, she’s not exactly supposed to be Tony Soprano, is she? Something tells me the already green-lit Season 4 is going to be more of the same, save for a different setting.
And, of course, who didn’t love the homage to the title sequence in the last few minutes of the episode?
