A Rare Meeting: A Meeting of Theatrical Minds

After some e-dumpster diving, I found this photograph of two theatrical superstars. Here are Corbin Bleu (of High School Musical 2 fame) and playwright Samuel Beckett exchanging what must be some very interesting words.
Huey Lewis Performing Title Song for “Pineapple Express”

Seth Rogen, of the upcoming comedy Pineapple Express (also written by Evan Goldberg and directed by David Gordon Green (…?)), confirmed that Huey Lewis was contracted to create an original song for the film. Fondly remembered for his plot-specific tracks “Power of Love” and “Back in Time” in the Back to the Future movies, Lewis’s new song is expected to not only sound similar to those, but to be even more titular insofar as the chorus will be built around the words “pineapple express.”
And if you haven’t already seen it, take a look at the first clip from the movie.

Jason Rohrer’s “Passage” – an Arthouse Video Game
I’ve been wondering when some designers would start making, well, strange little digital creations instead of formulaic, level-driven video games. At the core my interest in video games has always been with the exploration and experimentation with the very fact that what I’m playing is a counterfeit world. One would think that clipping, irregular physics, and other glitches would inspire all kinds of more artistically focused games – but it’s not something I’ve seen much of.Enter Jason Rohrer whose pixelated, 5-minute game Passage does just that. The game was a submission for Kokoromi’s Gamma256 competition at the Montreal International Games Festival. It’s played at a bizarre 25:4 aspect ratio with an image size of 100 x 16. The game is truly an experience that must be played through to the end. While you’re at it, check out Jason Rohrer’s great blog Arthouse Games, which reports on similar indie artgames.

Another Rare Meeting!
Tagged as advice, David Wain, friendship, Morton Feldman, Music, stella, the state
The moment has arrived! I stumbled onto another rare moment captured on the beauty of celluloid. More than likely taken in Morton Feldman’s home, the photograph shows comedian David Wain communing with avant-garde composer Morton Feldman. I don’t know for sure, but could the Feld-Man be getting some musical advice from Wain?
Ashlee Simpson’s New Single
I was starting to get worried that Ashlee wasn’t making any more music. She was off the radar for quite sometime (or maybe I haven’t been looking at the radar). Just as my fears began to peak, she reappeared on the scene with her new single Outta My Head.
Needless to say, it’s a good jam. I won’t lie to you guys, I’ve been rotating it on my play list for the whole weekend. So now that she’s back, all someone has to do is punch Ashlee in the schnoz to really make things normal again.
Head over to Perez Hilton’s site for a listen to her new hit single!
