Gossip Girl[S01E09]

Even though we’ve come to the close of Gossip Girl for the year 2007, don’t be alarmed because we already know for sure that the show will be returning – it’s just a matter of when and for how long. Now let’s dig into this delicious episode…

Well, considering we’ve gone a few episodes now with B. and S. on good terms, I guess I should have expected a quick scrap between the two. I’m glad Serena hasn’t forgotten about Chuck Bass forcing himself on Jenny (everybody else appears to have), because it lends some necessary weight to their latest disagreement. But I was happy to see things quickly move on to what was ultimately an adult-centric episode where we got a much deeper glimpse into all of the parents’ lives than we have before.

Speaking of which, getting Rufus, Alison, and Lily van der Woodsen in the same room was not something I expected to see until several episodes of reconciliatory bliss between Mr. and Mrs. Humphrey. But not on Gossip Girl. These writers won’t dish out a new conflict without dealing with the fallout the very next week. “One Tree Hill” Skips College

“One Tree Hill” trioI’m not an avid viewer of The CW’s One Tree Hill. I’ve only caught a few episodes here and there. But I am undoubtedly tuning in to the 2-hour fifth season premiere (Tuesday, January 8 ) now that this latest news is confirmed. The premiere is going to jump ahead 4 years into the future, dropping us right into the beginning of the cast’s post-graduate years. Not only is this a hilarious tribute (and solution) to the tradition of actors in their mid to late 20s playing 16 year olds, but as viewers we’ll get to skip over the usual stale, collegiate story lines (an affair with a professor, buying test answers from a 35 year old townie, bitchy roommates, pledging).

My one contention is that the show might suffer from an onslaught of flashbacks now. Despite that, I look forward to an entire season of the same sense of displacement incurred by viewers of the Dawson’s Creek series finale in 2003.
